The William J. VanLandingham Commitment to Education Award

This award was created in 1993 to recognize the long-time commitment of Bill VanLandingham (1937-1993) to education in general and to the Georgia Council on Economic Education in particular. He played an instrumental role in the evolution of the Georgia Council, which combined two things he loved: business and education. Criteria include a long-term commitment to education in a variety of settings. For information about how to submit a nomination, contact David Martin.

Former Chairman Frank Troutman was named the 2010 recipient of the William J. VanLandingham Commitment to Education Award at GCEE's May 13 Annual Meeting at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.  Through his fundraising efforts, Troutman, who served as Chairman from 1976 to 1981, has helped GCEE bring badly needed economics teacher training and classroom materials, often at no cost, to cash-strapped schools and school systems across Georgia.
