In connection with the Smithsonian’s Voices and Votes: Democracy in America at the Georgia Writers’ Museum, this workshop helps high school educators examine how major turning points in U.S. economic history shaped the nation’s democratic journey. Participants will explore how individuals, businesses, and government responded during times of economic stress and change, with attention to public policy, civic decision-making, and economic outcomes. In addition to classroom-ready strategies and resources, teachers will receive early access to the Smithsonian exhibit before it opens to the public, making this a timely and memorable professional learning experience.
Materials, lunch, and substitute reimbursement provided.
