Workshop Grades 6–8

Joining up with the Smithsonian Institution’s Voices and Votes: Democracy in America exhibit at the Georgia Writers’ Museum in historic Eatonton, this workshop gives middle grades educators the opportunity to explore how industrialization transformed the U.S. economy and reshaped American communities. Participants will investigate how transportation, innovation, and expanding markets changed production, work, and daily life, while gaining ready-to-use resources that help students connect economic change to the evolving American experience. Teachers will also receive early access to the exhibit ahead of its public opening, adding a powerful dimension to the day’s learning.
