2025 K5E3 Brings Energy, Innovation, and Economics to Savannah

Article

GCEE welcomed forty-one educators from eighteen school districts to Savannah on June 17–18 for K5E3, a two-day conference designed to energize K-5 teachers with fresh ideas for integrating economics into everyday instruction. This year’s theme — Trade and Interdependence — was brought to life through hands-on sessions that blended economics with STEM, literacy, and the arts.

Partners from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Booth Western Art Museum, GPB Education, UGA Agriculture, and the Georgia Department of Education led interactive sessions showing how children’s literature and visual art can be powerful tools for teaching economic concepts. A Goosechase scavenger hunt ran throughout the event, encouraging participants to explore historic Savannah while completing team-based challenges tied to key themes. Teachers also enjoyed dinner downtown followed by a spooky and educational walking ghost tour.

“This was my first time attending the conference. It was WONDERFUL!!! I was so engaged. I learned so much and can’t wait to implement the activities in my classroom,” said Tia Evans of Greene County Elementary.

GCEE looks forward to returning to Savannah for K5E3 next summer. Dates will be announced soon — stay tuned!
